63. Japan: Ibaraki

63. Ibaraki, Japan

This painting is “Landscape of Kasumigaura” (霞ヶ浦風景) by Takematsu Mitarai (御手洗 竹松). Kasumigaura, in Ibaraki Prefecture, is Japan’s second largest lake. Since 1988 Mitarai lives in Ibaraki at the foot of Mount Tsukuba (Tsukuba-san: 筑波山) and is known for painting the beauty of this mountain. In this image we also find Tsukuba-san with its two peaks. Pleasure boats and seagulls complete the scene. I treasure this magnet because I lived and studied in Tsukuba City for 3 years and I used to look at Tsukuba-san every day. This city will always have a special place in my heart ❤
I got this magnet at a gift shop in Tsukuba Station.
