I love this magnet! It’s so clean and pretty ❤ This is a sensu-type Japanese hand fan. The print is inspired in Japan’s national flag known as Hinomaru (日の丸 “circle of the sun”). The red disc represents the sun, an important symbol in Japanese mythology and religion. The design is completed with the name of the country in kanji (日本 read “Nihon”, which literally means “the sun’s origin”) and the little cherry blossoms (sakura) that bloom in Japan in spring.
I got this magnet at a souvenir stall in Nakamise, a shopping street in Asakusa (Tokyo).
Size: 6.8 x 4.2 cm (2.7 x 1.7 in)
